Seabourn Cruises....Luxury Yachting experiences.

Q: Can I use my own cell phone on board?
A: The Yachts of Seabourn offer an onboard GSM mobile phone network that allows guests to send and receive calls on their own compatible mobile phones and phone numbers while the ship is at sea. Seabourn Pride’s system is active at present. Seabourn Spirit and Legend will be activated in the second quarter of 2007.

Q: What vaccinations and forms of identification will I need?
A: Every country has its own entry requirements, and guests must assume personal responsibility for having the necessary documents when boarding. The following items may be needed:

Proof of Citizenship/Passports

For travel through December 31, 2005: A raised-seal birth certificate in combination with a photo ID is usually all that is required for U.S. and Canadian citizens to travel on Caribbean and Canadian cruises. However, passports are required for all nationalities on all cruises other than those noted above. Make sure your passport is valid at least six months beyond your expected date of return and has blank pages for visas or authority stamps.

Effective January 2008, valid and current passports are required for all nationalities on all cruises, including US citizens wishing to enter the United States. Entry or re-entry to the United States will not be permitted with a United States issued certified birth certificate, naturalization document or expired United States passport. Make sure your passport is valid at least six months beyond your expected date of return and has blank pages for visas or authority stamps.

Visas:  You may be required to obtain visas from the consulates of multiple countries on your itinerary. To assist you in complying, Seabourn will send you a visa application package from a reputable visa service agency. You will receive this package with your preliminary cruise documents, approximately three months before departure. Failure to obtain the necessary visas may result in serious delays and additional charges during embarkation, or in denied boarding.

Vaccination/Immunization: Requirements vary considerably, depending on the area of the world visited and are subject to change at any time. They suggest that guests traveling outside of their country of residence consider immunization against Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Polio, Diphtheria and Tetanus. An international certificate, approved by the World Health Organization, is the best medium for verification that inoculations and vaccinations have been satisfactorily performed, and is accepted by health officials at all ports of call. Seabourn strongly recommends  that guests contact their personal physician, the Department of Public Health or the Centers for Disease Control to obtain expert medical immunization recommendations for their intended itinerary and travel plans and to specifically address Malaria and Yellow Fever requirements in time to receive any necessary vaccinations/immunizations and for them to take effect.

Q: What sort of clothing should I pack for my journey with Seabourn?
  A: Attire for Evening

One of the great pleasures of cruising aboard Seabourn Pride, Spirit and Legend is the glamour of evenings at sea. Guests appreciate the contrast between the special atmosphere of formal evenings, which occur two nights during a one-week cruise and three to four nights, depending on the itinerary, on a two-week cruise, and the more informal ambiance that prevails on other evenings. Each day in the ship''s program, a dress advisory designates appropriate attire for The Restaurant after 6:00 pm. It will be specified as one of the following:

Formal: Tuxedo (alternatively a dark suit) for men, evening gown or other formal attire for women.

Elegant Casual: Slacks with a jacket over a sweater or shirt for men. Sun-dresses, skirts or pants with a sweater or blouse for women.

Casual wear is welcomed in the Veranda Café on evenings when dinner is served there.

Casual: Slacks and a sweater or shirt for men, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse for women.

2 (evenings in the Veranda Café):
Either Casual: Slacks with sweater or shirt for men; sundress, slacks or skirt and top for women.

Or Elegant Casual: On evenings when The Restaurant suggests Black Tie, 2 will welcome guests in Elegant Casual attire as described above.

Attire for Daytime

On all Seabourn cruises the general shipboard atmosphere is elegant, but relaxed, and you will enjoy dressing comfortably while indulging in a variety of moods. Elegant casual wear is best for The Restaurant. Shorts and other more casual attire are welcomed in the café during breakfast and lunch. Swimsuits, brief shorts, exercise clothing and cover-ups should be reserved for poolside lounging, water sports, deck activities and the fitness center or spa.

Attire on Shore

When planning your cruise wardrobe for any climate, layering your clothes will work best. For tropical cruises, bring light, loose-fitting garments that can be paired with a lightweight jacket or sweater. For cooler seasons or climates, pack extra layers of warmer garments such as a light topcoat and some sweaters.

When dressing to go ashore, it is helpful to be aware of the customs of the countries you are visiting. In some ports men and women should not wear shorts. Many cultures prefer that women wear dresses or skirts when visiting shrines, churches and temples. If your cruise takes you to Monte Carlo, casino dress codes require a jacket and tie for men. Once you are on board, Seabourn's well-versed staff members offer informative talks on local customs. Additional hints can be found in the Shore Excursion Information Booklet that you will receive with your cruise documentation.

Q: How much baggage may I bring with me?
A: You can bring as many bags as you want aboard ship, but airlines do have limitations. To protect your luggage, please be sure to mark each bag with the owner’s name, name of ship, sailing date and suite number. Seabourn Cruise Line’s responsibility in regard to baggage is covered by the passage contract. Seabourn's optional travel insurance program includes baggage protection up to $2,000 per guest. Full details of the coverage will accompany your preliminary cruise documents.

Q: Will I need to bring toiletries and other personal items?
A: You will find a full range of complimentary amenities in your suite, including a stocked mini-bar, fresh fruit and flowers, stationery, shampoo, conditioner, designer soap and lotion.

Q: Will my hair dryer, razor or appliances work on board?
A: U.S. and European style electrical sockets are available in all suites. If you have any questions about the appropriate place to plug in shavers, hair dryers, etc., please ask your suite attendant.

Q: Can I order meals to fit my special dietary requirements?
A: If you require a special diet or if you need to have special food items available aboard ship, please notify the Special Services department at least one month before sailing. Special Dietary requests such as salt-free or vegetarian foods, should be reconfirmed with the maitre d’hotel.

Q: Do I need to make dining reservations? Is Room (Suite) Service available?
A: As satisfying as the most extraordinary dining experiences ashore, the restaurants aboard Seabourn Pride, Spirit and Legend feature an elegant open seating arrangement for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At lunch and dinner, enjoy complimentary wines from California, France, Chile or Italy that are selected to enhance the menus of the day. The wine steward will provide a list of premium vintages that are also available at an additional charge.

Each evening following dinner, those who enjoy pipes or cigars are accommodated in the Constellation Lounge of the Seabourn Pride, the Horizon Lounge of the Seabourn Spirit or the Midnight Sun Lounge of the Seabourn Legend. For the comfort and convenience of all their guests, the elevators and portions of each of the ship’s public rooms have been designated as non-smoking areas. In addition they ask that pipes and cigars not be smoked inside the vessel, with the exception of after dinner in designated lounges. The Restaurants on all ships are non-smoking areas.

Complimentary room service is available 24-hours a day. Course-by-course dining is also available in your suite during restaurant hours

   Q: Are gratuities included?
A: Tipping is neither required nor expected

Q: Is there a doctor on board?
A: The ship’s small but modern basic medical facilities, staffed by a doctor and nurse, are located on Deck 3. These facilities are equipped to provide medical care for illness or accidents that may arise during the cruise. They are not intended to provide ongoing medical treatment for pre-existing conditions.

If you anticipate a need for medical services aboard ship, your special requirements must be cleared in writing with Seabourn Cruise Line. Because they are either at sea or in ports where availability of medical facilities and pharmaceutical products may be limited, Seabourn suggests you bring adequate supplies of prescription medications and other health related items.

Q: Is there a safe available?
A: There is a private safe in each suite for your convenience

Q: May we swim in the ocean from aboard Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit or Seabourn Legend?
A: Where conditions and local government authorities permit, the ship is able to lower a unique water sports platform, allowing guests to enjoy swimming, snorkeling, jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing and water skiing.

Q: What is the smoking policy onboard?
A: For the comfort and convenience of all guests, they ask guests to refrain from smoking:

In the Restaurant, Veranda Café and Restaurant “2” (inside and outside)

In the main show Lounge during performances and lectures.

On the starboard side (right side facing forward) in the Observation Lounge, The Club and the main show lounge.

 In the ship’s elevators.

In addition, Seabourn asks that guests refrain from smoking pipes and cigars anywhere inside the ship, including in guest suites. After dinner, an area of the Sky Bar is set aside for this pastime.
